Bisik is Ribongia’s second release from upcoming EP La Reunion. Featuring the evocative vocals of polymorphic singer-songwriter Bastien Picot, the track captures the bewitching spirit of the island on which it was written.
"The Bisik is a Reunionese fish that is born in the sweet waters of the mountain streams. The fish leaves its birthplace to navigate into the waters of the Indian Ocean. In mating season the Bisik swims upstream back to its place of birth to lay their eggs. We used the analogy of the fish returning home to describe the feeling of a traveller around the world to realize there’s no place like home."
"We edited the footage of the dancers performing from their bedrooms into a montage using a rotoscope technique where more than 5000 frames were digitally painted and filled with textures. We also collected archive maps and prints of Reunion Island to pay homage to the culture, natural richness and history and give the sense of travel back home.
