In 1992 I suffered a flood that destroyed my house. When the water calmed down I went to see the situation and I found myself in front of a horrible spectacle, everything was immersed and swallowed up by the mud: we had lost everything! After a few months our life resumed from where we had left it, the house was cleaned and the furniture and objects bought back over time.
For years I kept quiet about this wound, because life, fortunately, goes on!
In 2024, during a move, my mother found a bag full of small toys and decided to bring them to me. Getting back in touch with these little "surviving" characters still dirty with mud, catapulted me back to that moment. So I decided to work on the trauma, inserting clay into my paintings and modeling my vases by hand including these toys. A series called FANGO was born.
